Heathcoat 200 temporary exhibition

23 December 2016

Tiverton Museum and Heathcoat Fabrics have worked together to produce a new temporary exhibition which charts the story of the Heathcoat Factory in Tiverton since 1816. The factory has always had a close relationship with the town due to its central location, the numbers of people employed and the amount of housing and public facilities that the factory and the Heathcoat Amory family provided for Tiverton. The exhibition looks at how the factory started, the history of power and equipment used on site as well as the people who worked there. The exhibition also charts the change from making bobbinet lace to technical fabrics with some examples of the types of fabric made on site today which is used all over the world.

The exhibition runs until 23rd December 2016. Entry for the exhibition only is £1 for adults, or free with a full museum admission ticket.
