Treasures from the Earth -
A touring exhibition
featuring local archaeology in the South West and artefacts
specific to Tiverton. These include some of the oldest pottery
ever found in Devon, discovered during work on a new housing
development in Waylands Road in 2007. The experts date the
pottery to the early Neolithic period, between 4,000 and 3,500
BC.
There are fun things to do including
making a Roman mosaic with small squares called tesserae;
sorting the archaeologist's finds into pottery, stone or bone,
or discovering how ancient sites look from the air.
The project is an initiative of the
Renaissance Archaeology Group, funded by HLF and Renaissance in
the Regions. |
