|
A very varied and mixed Gallery with many themes such as
office life, toys, education, local societies, fashion, leisure
and shopping. In addition there are displays denoting a pub
interior, a 1960s room and a wartime Anderson shelter. This
forms a centrepiece of a home front theme and you are encouraged
to sit inside it and listen to the commentary on life in
wartime. |

| From further back in time
there is a German Spandau machine gun from the First World
War. Each town in Britain who had a VC winner was given such a weapon! The VC from
Tiverton was Private Thomas Sage who won it at Ypres in 1917.
Other objects of note are a large dolls
house, a Broadwood piano, an enormous 1960s TV and two magnificent chemists
jars. The final display is one which explains the concept of design and features a
pre-QWERTY keyboard typewriter and a new DYSON vacuum cleaner.
