Cottage Parlour
Domestic scene with a collection of souvenir ware

One aspect of John Heathcoat’s philanthropy was the provision of good worker housing. Whilst this is not unique in Britain in the nineteenth century, it has been provided in Tiverton right up to the 1990’s.

The fireplace is from a mid-nineteenth- century house in Chapel Street, Tiverton.
