THE MUSEUM IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED DURING THE NATIONAL LOCKDOWN.
We’ve launched an emergency appeal as we’re dependent on our admission income and have limited cash reserves. Donate to our Emergency Appeal.
We’re committed to keeping all our visitors, volunteers and staff safe. We’ve put a number of procedures in place to make sure you can enjoy a safe and enjoyable visit to the museum.
Book your visit
To help with social distancing we are limiting the number of visitors. Book your tickets to avoid disappointment. If you haven’t booked you may be asked to return at a later time slot. For on the day availability give us a call on 01884 256295.
You will be able to choose a half hour time slot for your visit. Please arrive within this time slot; you can then stay in the museum as long as you like (the museum closes at 4pm).
We will collect your contact details (either when you book or on arrival) so that we are able to assist the NHS Test and Trace scheme.
Check our website or social media for any updates before visiting.
If you, or anyone in your party, has symptoms of COVID-19 please stay at home.
When you arrive
Have your tickets ready, either printed or on your phone.
Our staff and volunteers will serve you from behind perspex screens. The screens have been fitted around our front desk area to protect you and our staff and volunteers.
A one-way system with clear signage is in place around the museum. The one-way system is easy to follow and you will receive a map of the museum when you arrive. Please respect the measures we have put in place and follow social distancing guidance.
We ask that all visitors to the museum wear a face covering during their visit in line with Government guidance for museums, except for children under the age of 11 or those with exemptions.
We have an enhanced cleaning schedule in place. Staff will regularly clean and disinfect door handles, lift buttons, taps and other surfaces that are frequently touched.
Doors will be propped open in good weather to aid ventilation.
We have removed all movable play and interactive elements and the Tivvy Bumper cab will remain closed to reduce the risk of transmission. We do have quizzes and pencils available that you can take away with you.
Hand sanitiser is available around the museum for you to use.
We have undertaken thorough Covid 19 risk assessments. Read our Visitor Risk Assessment.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
