A black and white photo dating from 1960. A flooded street with a pub, the Swan Inn, on the right and building either side. There are two men standing in the middle of the street. The flood water reaches just over their knees.

Our Director Pippa Griffith investigates our archives and explores the varied history of Tiverton’s West Exe, including textile production, shops and community life, plus the impact of fires and floods. All illustrated with photos from our vast archive.
