‘I have always been fascinated by history – family history, local history and our national history. The past is a rewarding place to visit and learn from. Which is why I, and so many others, are keen supporters of the Museum. We know that it needs help, not just to survive but to thrive so that the wonderful collections from this very special corner of the UK can continue to bring enjoyment and education to many more generations of visitors.
I am pleased to be able to pledge a gift in my will to the Museum: a gift of the past to the future. I hope you might consider doing the same.
Thank you.’
Sir Ian Heathcoat Amory

Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life is home to the stories of people and place – past and present of Tiverton and Devon’s heartland.
It is a treasure trove of fascinating objects and quirky artefacts that weave incredible stories about the people who lived here before us.
We want to make sure we can pass that wonderful history, as well as a record of our own lives, on to the future generation.
Please help us make a gift of the past, for the future, by leaving a gift to the Museum in your will.
Your gift will help the Museum:
- Care for all of the collections, from the largest to the smallest, the oldest to the newest.
- Acquire important new objects that tell the story of Mid Devon, past and present.
- Create displays and exhibitions to tell the stories of the people of Mid Devon.
- Arrange events and activities for everyone in our community.
- Deliver great educational programmes for local schools.
- Prepare for the unknowns of the future.

In 2015 the museum was left a generous legacy from a long standing museum member. This made a lasting impact as a proportion of that donation was used as match funding for a transformational project strengthening the governance and strategic vision for the museum. This work formed the foundation for subsequent projects, and major changes that are now on the horizon to secure the museum’s future sustainability.
