World War Two Day – Hands-on History for All Ages

Step back in time and explore what life was really like during the Second World War at this special hands-on event day.

Meet our experts and reenactors, handle real wartime objects, and take part in a range of interactive activities inspired by everyday life on the Home Front.

On the day you can enjoy:

  • Code-breaking challenges
  • Object handling with items from our collections
  • Make Do and Mend crafts
  • Land Army and Dig for Victory activities
  • Evacuee stories, dressing-up and role-play for children

This relaxed, drop-in event is suitable for families, history enthusiasts and anyone curious about wartime Britain.

Drop in any time between 10am and 4pm and stay as long as you like.
All activities are included in normal museum admission.
